SUNSTONES is a deeply personal project for me: Songs of longing, love, loss and letting go. These beautiful melodies sprang from a cathartic time in my life. Within these tracks you’ll find a deep well of gratitude, celebration and mystery.

A stand-out on the album is the third track: ‘Radiant Light Of The Sun’. It’s an ethereal track dedicated to anyone who’s lost someone precious, and emerged on the other side of grief to laugh and love again.

Sunstones is a concept album: a collection of my best originals, presented in ten lovely instrumental piano portraits. Each track arranged and performed by recording artist Chris Nole. Chris is an extraordinarily gifted musician, a renowned session player, producer and songwriter, based out of Nashville TN.

Collaborating with Chris on several of my past projects ‘Mosaic’, ‘Some Good Things’ and now, ‘Sunstones’, has been a major highlight of my 45 year career in music. I’ve always been enamored by Chris’s unique and evocative voicings on the piano. I’m honored to have him interpret my songs. The silver dollar-sized stone on the front cover of the SUNSTONES album is a piece of ‘brecciated’ Jasper. I photographed this stunning little piece of geology just as its pictured, on a remote beach in San Simeon, CA.

For me, beach stones symbolize resilience amongst adversity over millennia, to reach the jewel-like condition in which we find them lying upon the sand. We are like these stones, shaped and polished by life’s joys and sorrows, and the passing of time.
