May 2026

Dear Friends,

Glad tidings to you, in this lovely month of May.

Thanks so much for taking a moment to drop by my website. This little piece of cyberspace is a labor of love, and is expertly curated each month by my dear friend Suzanne Rose, way over there in Pennsylvania. Besides this blog, you’ll find a bio, an extensive calendar of my live performances, links to purchase, download and stream my music, a lyrics page, and still yet another section with a retrospective of past events and venues I’ve played over the span of some 45 years. There are also links to my Pandora and Facebook pages, and in particular, a link that will take you directly to my personal You Tube page, which features a varied collection of music videos, both old and new tunes, covers and originals. I’m also on Instagram, but I very seldom use it.

This month, May 2026, marks the 21st consecutive month I’ve been at work in the recording studio on my latest project. This is by far the longest stretch I’ve ever spent in the studio; and happily, also the most educational and fun. It’s also turning out to be an enormous commitment in discipline, finance, writing and musicianship, and all of it without a shred of AI, Go Fund Me or Kickstarter involved. Along with the big project, we are also recording a handful of my favorite classics by the late, great Bill Withers!

These past months I have been honored to have several more west coast luminaries join our sessions: Tom Ball, Shawn Thies, and Lois Mahalia. Extraordinary talent like that is transforming my humble efforts into something truly special. And the best news of all is that the project finally has a theme, and a name… ‘Legacies’

In my previous blog I mentioned that I was hopeful of a release date sometime this summer. Who was I kidding?! It turns out the ‘Herding Cats’ metaphor was spot on. Now, hoping for sometime early 2027.

These warmer, longer days of spring find me more often than not, out in the backcountry hiking and photographing our state’s beautiful wildflowers. It’s a great way to escape the chaos currently going on in our world, and recapture what matters most in life. So, until next time…

With Fond Affection,
Jeff

November 2025

Dear Friends,

Thanks so much for visiting jeffreypine.com …my little outpost here on the worldwide web. This blog is where I occasionally drop the latest news and various ‘goings on’ in my life, per music.

I am grateful beyond words to be blessed with so many supportive fans of my music, as well as stellar venues that showcase my live performances. This has been a year to remember, a year in which I invested heavily in my musical legacy. The past twelve months, I played a record 251 live shows and logged over 65 studio recording sessions. I love spending creative, meditative time with my guitars. A way of life for me.

On top of all of this, last spring I also had the honor of auditioning for The Kingston Trio. What an experience that was, having the opportunity to play a session with such a storied, celebrated and insanely successful Institution of American Music. A highlight of my career for sure, getting to revisit so many unforgettable tunes from my childhood: Scotch & Soda, Green Back Dollar, and of course, Tom Dooley. Nostalgia on steroids.

Ongoing work on my current studio project is beginning to take shape and… it’s turning out to be what we used to call a ‘double album’! My project doesn’t yet have a name per se, but it seems to be evolving into a portrait of both old and new music that has had a significant impact on my life: A retrospective of well-known covers, as well as Jeff Pine originals: some familiar and, several new tunes fresh off the stove.

This project features an array of certified Santa Barbara music legends: My friend and guitar hero, studio owner/engineer, producer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist David West; the great George Friedenthal; West coast music icons Brian Mann, Kevin Winard, and Lorenzo Martinez; And, all through the mastering process I’m honored to have the entire project in the exceptionally capable hands of Emmet Seargent III, of Carpinteria.

A stand out within this new collection of music is my dear friend Jean Fogelberg. Jean joins me on a number of tunes with her singularly beautiful harmony vocals. Jean is a multifaceted artist: A photographer, singer, songwriter and a sterling ukulele player. I had the good fortune to meet her when I relocated to the west coast way back in 1983. Our friendship has endured, and we are having the best time all of these years later making wonderful music together. Please check out Jean’s website at: www.jeanfogelberg.com  …Oh and by the way, if her last name sounds familiar, Jean was indeed married to the one and only Dan Fogelberg.

Whatever my new project will grow into remains to be seen, but it has certainly been a labor of dedication and love. I am optimistic for a release date sometime in summer of ’26, but the whole process is about as predictable as herding cats …So we’ll see.

Wishing everybody a warm and wonderful holiday season.

Fondly,

Jeff

July 2025

Hello Friends,

Thanks for visiting jeffreypine.com, my little home on the worldwide web. This is my new blog where I’ll occasionally be posting the latest news and various ‘goings on’ in my life, per music.

I’m excited to share that I have been back in the studio again, since the fall of 2024, working on a new project of both covers and originals. Unlike the Mosaic and Sunstones instrumental albums (I still use that term as I’m unabashedly old school) this collection of tunes will be guitar/vocal/band material. I expect to be working on these gems through most of 2025; Shooting for a release date in the spring of 2026.

This past year, I have stayed extraordinarily busy with my live performance schedule. I find myself playing much more nylon string guitar these days, which, aside from being easier on my hands, has greatly affected my playing style in the most exciting of ways. You’ll be hearing this subtle transition more and more in my music.

I hope this finds all of you healthy and happy. Happy Summer of ’25, and I so appreciate having every one of you in my life.

Fondly,

Jeff
